Lead the Work. Develop the Crew. Share in the Success.

You have built your electrical career through years of hands-on experience. You know how to plan the work, lead a crew, solve field problems, and keep a project moving safely and productively. Now you deserve to work for a company that recognizes the value of your leadership.

Design Electric is hiring an experienced Commercial Electrical Foreman to lead field teams on commercial and industrial projects. This is a working leadership position for someone who can turn project plans into organized daily work, develop electricians and apprentices, and take ownership of jobsite performance. Design Electric has served Virginia for more than 40 years. As a 100% employee-owned company, our employees do more than work here. They share in the success they help create.

Experience Required

This position requires at least six years of verifiable commercial and/or industrial electrical experience, including demonstrated experience leading electricians, apprentices, or electrical crews.

This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have hands-on commercial or industrial electrical experience and be prepared to discuss the crews, projects, and electrical installations they have led.

What You Will Do

As an Electrical Foreman, you will oversee daily field operations while working closely with the Superintendent and project leadership to complete projects safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supervising electricians, apprentices, and helpers on active jobsites
  • Planning daily and weekly work activities based on project schedules and priorities
  • Assigning work based on each crew member’s experience and capabilities
  • Coordinating manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and project workflow
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, BIM drawings, and project documents
  • Laying out electrical installations and communicating expectations clearly to the crew
  • Monitoring productivity, labor hours, project progress, and quality of work
  • Anticipating material needs and coordinating deliveries to prevent delays
  • Identifying field conflicts, changes, and potential project risks
  • Communicating progress, manpower needs, and field issues to project leadership
  • Ensuring work complies with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, project requirements, and company safety standards
  • Maintaining accurate jobsite documentation using company systems
  • Coordinating effectively with general contractors, other trades, inspectors, and project stakeholders
  • Mentoring electricians and apprentices to strengthen their technical and leadership skills
  • Maintaining a safe, organized, professional, and productive jobsite
What We Are Looking For

Qualified candidates should have:

  • At least six years of verifiable commercial and/or industrial electrical experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrical crews and coordinating daily field operations
  • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, and safe work practices
  • Experience planning manpower, materials, equipment, and workflow
  • The ability to read and work from blueprints, specifications, and BIM drawings
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E
  • The ability to track labor, productivity, progress, and jobsite documentation
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • The confidence to make field decisions and the humility to collaborate with project leadership
  • Dependable attendance and a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Authorization to work in the United States

A current Journeyman or Master Electrician license is preferred but not required.
