Job Description
The Electrical Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of electricians and apprentices on construction, maintenance, or installation projects. This role ensures compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and project specifications while managing resources, schedules, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership: Lead a team of electricians and apprentices, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring productivity and morale.
- Project Coordination: Plan and organize daily work activities, interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications, and coordinate with other trades or project managers.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce OSHA and company safety policies, conduct safety meetings, and ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work for compliance with Electrical Code (NEC), project standards, and client requirements.
- Resource Management: Estimate material and labor needs, order supplies, and manage tools and equipment to avoid delays.
- Scheduling: Monitor project timelines, adjust crew assignments to meet deadlines, and report progress to supervisors or contractors.
- Training & Mentorship: Train and mentor junior electricians and apprentices, fostering skill development and adherence to standards.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot electrical issues, resolve on-site challenges, and implement corrective actions.
- Documentation: Maintain records of work performed, timesheets, material usage, and change orders.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent training.
- Experience: 5+ years as a journeyman electrician, with 1-3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid journeyman or master electrician license (state-specific); OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of NEC and local electrical codes.
- Proficiency in reading CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Leadership and communication skills to manage diverse teams.
- Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
- Familiarity with electrical systems (e.g., low-voltage, high-voltage, commercial, industrial).
