JDC Power Systems, LLC is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to independently troubleshoot and repair electrical infrastructure across LV/MV switchgear, transformers, PLCs, and related equipment. You will diagnose on-site with minimal supervision, support uptime, and ensure safety during all field operations.

The role requires strong communication, safety focus, and the ability to document results and coordinate with internal teams while traveling to customer sites nationwide.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in field service focusing on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.
  • Proven track record troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex electrical systems/components.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Independently troubleshoot, service, and repair electrical infrastructure: transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, PLC-based controls, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose issues on-site with limited oversight, driving uptime and efficiency for customers.
  • Execute inspections and performance tests to verify compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers on complex calls, escalating when needed.
  • Own the customer experience—translate technical findings into clear solutions and options.
  • Capture thorough documentation: test results, troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and system performance notes.
  • Coordinate schedules, parts, tools, and resources with internal teams to hit deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records for service activities, inventory, time, and equipment usage.
  • Leverage remote diagnostic tools; assist colleagues with remote troubleshooting.
  • Lead with safety—site assessments, flag hazards, and mitigations.

Your day with JDC Power SystemsSun up in the DMV. Your first stop: a facility with aging LV/MV switchgear that just tripped. You arrive prepared, run diagnostics with your relay test set, isolate a faulted breaker, review the PLC logic, and get operations back online with minimal downtime. By afternoon, you’re mentoring a junior tech on safe lockout/tagout and running a remote session to help another team interpret SCADA alarms. That blend of autonomy, complexity, and customer interaction is the rhythm of an FSR2 at JDC Power Systems, LLC.What you’ll take onIndependently troubleshoot, service, and repair electrical infrastructure: transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, PLC-based controls, and related equipment.Diagnose issues on-site with limited oversight, driving uptime and efficiency for our customers.Execute inspections and performance tests to verify compliance with industry standards.Team up with senior technicians and engineers on complex calls, escalating when needed.Own the customer experienceAct as the face of JDC during service visits—translate technical findings into clear solutions and options.Capture thorough documentation: test results, troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and system performance notes.Run an efficient operationPrioritize and complete multiple work orders with minimal supervision.Coordinate schedules, parts, tools, and resources with internal teams to hit deadlines.Maintain accurate records for service activities, inventory, time, and equipment usage.Leverage remote diagnostic tools; assist colleagues (junior and senior) with remote troubleshooting.Lead with safetyWork in full compliance with company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and relevant codes.Perform site-specific safety assessments, flag hazards, and implement mitigations.Conduct tailboards/briefings and coach junior techs on safe work practices.Improve, innovate, documentKeep current on new technologies and industry best practices to elevate service quality.Recommend process enhancements that improve turnaround time and customer experience.Contribute to writing and refining SOPs and field best practices.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related technical field preferred.Certifications: NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or similar credentials are advantageous.Experience we value3–5 years in field service focusing on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.Proven track record troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex electrical systems/components.Familiarity with field service software/work order systems is a plus.Hands-on exposure to PLCs, SCADA, transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and protective relays.Core skillsExpert problem-solver able to resolve intricate technical issues independently.Fluent with electrical test tools and software (multimeters, relay test sets, diagnostics).Clear communicator—capable of explaining complex topics to customers and teammates.Excellent time management across multiple simultaneous service calls.Collaborative mindset and team orientation.Additional requirementsFrequent travel with overnights to customer locations and JDC sites nationwide.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.Nice-to-have strengthsExperience working at both low- and medium-voltage levels.Foundational experience with PLCs, SCADA, and protective relays.Where you’ll beLocation: DMV area — Regional office is in Sterling, VATravel: Travel is required on a daily/weekly basis to both customer sites and internal field service locations across the Region.Technical proficiency highlightsPLC troubleshooting and panel wiring capability.Comfort with 120/208/240/480 VAC distribution.Working knowledge of SCADA systems.Equipment and platforms you’ll encounterSwitchgear from Mitsubishi, ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, and Eaton.PLCs from Siemens and Schneider Electric.Compliance and accessibilityJDC Power Systems, LLC is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
