Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a Field Service Technician - Electrical Testing to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on distribution systems and equipment. The role involves traveling to customer sites and performing tests on 480 V to 600 kV equipment, with data collection and reporting.

You will join a team dedicated to safety and quality, with opportunities to work on transformers, relays, switchgear, and voltage testing.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of switchgear testing and troubleshooting experience.
• Must be able to drive locally/regionally and travel overnight as needed.
• NETA Certification (I, II, III or IV) or similar desired.
• PC skills including email, internet, data entry; PowerDB a plus.
• Work safely and adhere to electrical safety procedures.
• OSHA 30, MSHA, NFPA 70-E or related training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Field Service Test Technicians travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up and data-collect low, medium and high voltage systems.
• Instrument transformer tests.
• Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
• Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays.
• Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot.
• Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting.
• Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing.
• Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
• Rotate on-call duty and respond to emergencies as needed.
