Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician - Electrical Testing to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on distribution systems and equipment. You will work with a team to ensure safety, efficiency, and high-quality results.

Travel to client sites (industrial & commercial) to test 480 V to 600 kV systems, perform transformer and relay tests, and diagnose issues. A valid driver’s license, NETA certification, and strong safety practices are required.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• Must be able to drive locally/regionally and travel periodically.
• NETA Certification (I–IV) or similar desired; OSHA 30/ MSHA training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and data collection on low, medium and high voltage (480V to 600 kV) electrical systems.
• Instrument transformer tests
• Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
• Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
• Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
• Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting
• Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
• Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
• Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
