A Snapshot of Your Day (Position Overview)

Siemens Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Excitation Field Service Engineer to join our Controls Group based in Alpharetta, GA. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for excitation systems in power plants and industrial facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, hands-on experience with excitation systems, and the ability to work independently in the field.

How You’ll Make an Impact (Responsibilities)

  1. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure efficient performance and reliability of excitation systems.
  2. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to excitation systems, including hardware and software components.
  3. Provide technical support and training to customers and end-users on the operation and maintenance of excitation systems.
  4. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement solutions for technical challenges.
  5. Prepare detailed service reports, technical documentation, and manuals for customers and internal use.
  6. Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during all field service activities.
  7. Stay updated with industry trends, standard processes, and advancements in excitation technology.

What You Bring (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in field service engineering, preferably with excitation systems.
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of excitation systems, ideally Siemens Energy or similar products. Solid understanding of power generation, control systems, and power plant operations, with proficiency in diagnostic tools, test equipment, and specialized software.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; valid driver’s license and ability to obtain travel documentation required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with customers and teams, ensuring project success and customer satisfaction.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
