Job summary

xenergy is seeking an Electrical Construction Field Engineer to plan, coordinate, and monitor electrical construction in a nuclear project environment. The role interfaces with design engineering, construction management, superintendents, foremen, and contractors to interpret technical docs, develop work packages, and ensure timely, safe, and compliant field execution.

The position emphasizes accurate quantity tracking, document control, inspection/test plan implementation, and proper turnover

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Construction, Nuclear, or a related engineering discipline; verifiable experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience in heavy construction or nuclear engineering with field electrical construction.
• Working knowledge of electrical construction, power distribution, instrumentation installation, nuclear facility requirements, DOE/NRC standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, and risk-management skills with the ability to interpret electrical plans and specs.
• Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
• Safety-focused with ethics and initiative.

Job Description

The Electrical Construction Field Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring electrical construction activities to ensure work is executed safely, in compliance with nuclear quality and regulatory requirements, and in alignment with the project schedule and budget. This role will serve as a key interface between design engineering, construction management, superintendents, foremen, and contractors, interpreting technical documents, developing and maintaining work packages and installation plans, and resolving constructability and design issues in the field. The role ensures accurate quantity tracking, document control, inspection and test plan implementation, and system / area turnovers so that completed work is fully documented, meets all project quality requirements, and is ready for successful commissioning.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities

• Reviews contractor projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements.
• Interpret electrical design drawings, single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, conduit and cable routing drawings, and instrumentation loop diagrams, materials, and equipment requirements.
• Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
• Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
• Supports Construction Electrical Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
• Maintain project document control and ensure all work activities are executed using the latest versions of relevant documents.
• Work with the discipline superintendents to ensure detailed, integrated installation plans for complex, cross discipline installations are completed and followed.
• Work with Area superintendent to ensure that quantities are reported, verified and submitted for all commodities each week.
• Provide oversight with the development and implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's).
• Work with quality control and inspection oversight personnel ensuring proper inspections are completed and associated documentation is generated.
• Ensure that all project quality requirements are understood and adhered to by all contractors.
• Liaise with the project engineers and the design engineering group and provide support to resolve design and constructability issues.
• Work with supervision to perform front-end work package scoping reviews and approvals.
• Work with project controls group to review and validate change request and work estimates.
• Ensure development and accuracy of construction progress reports and quantity forecasts by contractors.
• Review and oversee that contractors complete required material requisitions to ensure that material deliveries support scheduled activities and complete material receipt inspections.
• Assist in the preparation and updating of construction schedules.
• Ensure contractors thoroughly prepare the applicable as-built documents and inspections required by the contract.
• Oversee the contractors performing system / area turnovers.
• Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Construction, Nuclear, or a related engineering discipline. Verifiable experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience in heavy construction or nuclear engineering, with demonstrated field experience in electrical construction.
• Working knowledge of electrical construction, power distribution and instrumentation installation, nuclear facility requirements, Department of Energy (DOE) orders, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), or commercial nuclear standards.
• Solid communication, organizational, and risk-management skills, with the ability to interpret electrical engineering plans, single-line diagrams, loop diagrams, and specifications with limited guidance.
• Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
