RTX’s Failure Analysis Lab in McKinney, TX is hiring an Electrical Engineer to perform root-cause failure analysis on aerospace products. You will diagnose failures at component and assembly levels using electrical characterization, X‑ray, and deprocessing techniques, and prepare formal reports with recommendations.

The role requires 5+ years in a STEM field or 3+ years with an advanced degree, and proficiency with lab tools and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles across analog, digital, RF, and signal integrity domains.
• Experience with electrical lab equipment (curve tracers, power supplies, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, signal generators, network analyzers, LCR meters, etc.).
• Strong understanding of electrical drawings and schematics.
• Ability to independently author technical reports and deliver verbal and written presentations.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote).

Responsibilities

• Perform root cause failure analysis of Raytheon products including characterization of failures of electronic or electromechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, systems, and manufacturing materials.
• Diagnose failures at the component and assembly level using electrical characterization techniques, X‑ray analysis, deprocessing methodologies, micro-section analysis, and related techniques.
• Demonstrate expertise in analytical tools such as optical microscopes, real-time and computed tomography X‑ray, scanning electron microscopes, analytical chemistry equipment, and other analytical tools.
• Prepare formal analysis reports supporting failure conclusions and recommending solutions.
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team with some oversight from senior engineers.
