Job summary

RTX is seeking an Electrical Engineer for the Failure Analysis Lab in McKinney, TX. The role focuses on root cause analysis of Raytheon products, applying electrical characterization techniques and advanced imaging to determine failure modes.

You will author technical reports, present findings, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a onsite setting. A STEM degree and 5+ years of experience are required, with relocation support available.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles across analog, digital, RF, and signal integrity domains.
• Ability to independently author technical reports and deliver verbal and written presentations.

Responsibilities

• Perform root cause failure analysis of Raytheon products including characterization of failures of electronic or electromechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, systems, and manufacturing materials.
• Diagnose failures at the component and assembly level using electrical characterization techniques, X-ray analysis, deprocessing methodologies, micro-section analysis, and related techniques.
• Demonstrate expertise in analytical tools such as optical microscopes, real-time and computed tomography X-ray, scanning electron microscopes, analytical chemistry equipment, and other analytical tools.
• Prepare formal analysis reports supporting failure conclusions and recommending solutions.
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team with some oversight from senior engineers.
