Raytheon in Tucson, AZ seeks an Electronic Materials Failure Analysis Engineer to support the Electrical Engineering section. You will perform failure analysis and component evaluation for devices ranging from passive parts to complex microcircuits and related cabling and connectors.

Responsibilities include data-rich documentation and operation of lab equipment (X-Ray, oscilloscopes, bond testers) to help engineers solve tough problems for mission readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment (DMM, curve tracer, megohmmeters, etc.).
  • Academic experience with microcircuits and electronic components.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze electrical components and perform tests including DPA and cross-sections.
  • Document results in detail and maintain traceability.

The Electrical Engineering (EE) Section of the Materials and Process Engineering Department is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of Electronic Materials Failure Analysis Engineer. This position supports the EE section in its mission of performing electronic materials failure analysis and component evaluation. The devices submitted for analysis range from simple passive devices to complex, custom microcircuits as well cables, connectors, magnetics and electro-magnetics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analysis of electrical components such as: visual photo-documentation, electrical testing, non-destructive troubleshooting, environmental testing, x-ray evaluation, destructive physical analysis (DPA) including decapsulation and/or cross-sections
  • Detailed documentation of results
  • Learn and operate laboratory equipment such as: microscopes, oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, LCR meters, curve tracers, semiconductor parameter analyzers, signal generators, megohmmeters, bond tester, X-Ray, Scanning Acoustic Microscope, and others.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Material Science (with an emphasis on electronics) obtained upon start date.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment such as; DMM, curve tracer, parametric analyzers, multimeters, megohmmeters, etc.
  • Academic experience with microcircuits, active & passive electrical components, or other electrical components and materials.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Familiarity with component data sheets and drawings
  • Technical working knowledge of electronic component parts and their application
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics and circuit analysis
  • Data collection and presentation skills to write a cogent report, supporting the analysis conclusion and if necessary, present the data and findings
  • Ability to effectively work parallel analyses
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
