Summary

EMCOR Hyre Electric Co of Indiana is seeking an Electrical Estimator responsible for estimating and providing management with detailed pricing for bid quotations and bid packages. Candidates should have relevant experience in preparing cost estimates for manufacturing, construction projects, or services, aiding in bidding or pricing decisions. Specializations may vary according to specific services or products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects.
2. Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel across departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
3. Prepare estimates for management to assist in planning, organizing, and scheduling.
4. Analyze blueprints and documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
5. Coordinate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on estimate changes and adjustments.
6. Review contract and bid documents; understand project scope for turnover.
7. Participate in walk-throughs, pre-bid meetings, and scope clarification sessions.
8. Perform quantitative take-offs and data entry into systems.
9. Prepare scope letters and proposals.
10. Maintain relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
11. Perform design/build, conceptual, and budget estimates.
12. Coordinate with junior staff for take-offs, bills of material, and subcontractor quotes.
13. Collaborate with the Engineering Department.
14. Ensure documentation is stored securely and centrally.
15. Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing adjustments.
16. Escalate critical issues to senior management with recommendations.
17. Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety programs.
18. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should meet the following minimum requirements:

• At least 3 years of related experience in construction.
• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s or Master’s in engineering or construction-related fields preferred.
• Knowledge of construction industry and contract documentation.
• Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience with Accubid and other electrical or construction software.
• Familiarity with project management and document control software.
• Knowledge of construction/financial software packages.

Physical Demands

Must be able to sit, see, talk, hear, handle objects, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May need to lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to navigate job sites.

Work Environment

Primarily office-based with travel to field locations. Exposure to outdoor conditions, noise, dust, chemicals, and electrical hazards is possible.
