Job summary

Photo Electric LLC, a Salem-based electrical contractor, seeks an organized Electrical Estimator to support residential, commercial, and light industrial service work. You will source bids, review plans, perform takeoffs, and coordinate with vendors and project teams to ensure accurate, timely estimates.

Responsibilities include developing estimates with standard labor rates and 1.7x material markup, preparing bid packages, and providing clear scope narratives and handoffs to operations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years electrical estimating experience OR 3+ years field electrical experience with strong plan-reading skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
• Strong understanding of branch circuits, service equipment, lighting layouts, and fire alarm systems.
• Proficiency with estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar).
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Bid Sourcing & Intake: monitor bid boards, client requests, and opportunities; evaluate project fit.
• Plan Review & Takeoffs: read drawings/specs; perform material and labor takeoffs for various systems.
• Estimate Development: build estimates using standardized labor rates and material markup (1.7x); classify journeyman vs. apprentice labor; draft scope narratives and exclusions.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: request and compare supplier quotes; maintain pricing libraries.
• Client & Internal Communication: clarify scope with owners/GCs/project managers; assist with change orders and budget updates; attend pre-bid meetings.
• Documentation & Handoff: prepare complete bid packages; provide clean handoff with labor breakdowns and lists.
