Hiring Mission Critical/Data Center experts on the East Coast - Thor Engineering

Location: Sterling / Ashburn, VA

About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical Estimator to lead the preconstruction and estimating efforts for large-scale data center projects in the Northern Virginia region. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical systems, extensive experience in mission-critical environments, and the ability to manage multiple complex bids with precision and confidence.

This position plays a key role in shaping project success from day one and offers the opportunity to work on some of the most innovative and high-profile electrical construction projects in the country.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the electrical estimating process for design-build and hard bid data center projects ranging from $10M to $200M+.
• Analyze and interpret project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive, competitive estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field leadership to develop accurate scope and pricing strategies.
• Conduct take-offs using industry-standard software (such as Accubid, Bluebeam, Revit, etc.).
• Identify value engineering opportunities and provide cost-saving alternatives.
• Maintain current knowledge of market pricing, labor rates, and material costs.
• Interface with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and comprehensive bid coverage.
• Mentor junior estimators and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Experience electrical estimating, with a strong emphasis on large-scale commercial or data center projects.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems design, installation methods, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in Accubid, LiveCount, Bluebeam, or similar estimating and take-off tools.
• Strong understanding of NEC and local codes/regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
