Job summary

Star Service, a Fidelity Building Services Group company, is seeking an Electrical Project Estimator to join our Houston team. You will develop estimates for commercial, industrial, and municipal electrical projects, coordinating with vendors and owners to ensure accurate, timely bids.

Responsibilities include bid management, pre-bid meetings, site condition verification, and maintaining comprehensive proposal records.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of preparing estimates and proposals for commercial, industrial, and municipal electrical projects using computerized estimation and digital takeoff software.
• Ability to provide a complete commercial construction estimate and proposal for either plan/spec or design/build projects.
• Knowledgeable with reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and pricing documentation to prepare timely labor and cost estimates.
• Ability to survey electrical systems, interpret drawings, equipment and job conditions.
• Ability to obtain quotes from vendors on materials, equipment and lead times.
• Ability to coordinate mechanical construction with other building trades.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with multitasking.
• Detail oriented with organizational time management skills.
• Proficient in MS Word/Excel/Outlook with good communication and writing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary and definitive estimates and proposals for labor, materials and equipment for electrical projects.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing for compliance with specifications and drawings.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, verify site conditions and interface with Owners, Developers and General Contractors.
• Manage the bid preparation and written proposal process from start to finish.
• Maintain records of all documents and data to back up estimates and proposals.
• Assist and prioritize work with sales engineers, project managers and construction teams.
• Conduct jobsite walks as needed and build a backlog of quotes to meet booking goals.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external customers; maintain rapport with field, office and management.
• Order equipment and materials as required.

We are looking for an all-star Electrical Project Estimator to join our Houston team! Our ideal candidate will be highly skilled in estimating commercial, industrial, and municipal projects.

As a Project Estimator at Star Service, your primary responsibilities will be:

• Performing all aspects of developing preliminary and/or definitive detailed estimates and proposals for labor, materials and equipment associated withElectrical projects
• Obtaining and evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing for compliance with project specifications and drawings.
• Attending pre-bid meetings, verify site conditions and interface with Owners, Developers and General Contractors.
• Managing the bid preparation and formal written proposal process in its entirety.
• Electronically maintaining records of all working documents and data to back up estimates and proposals.
• Assisting, organizing, and prioritizing work in conjunction with sales engineers, project managers, and construction management teams.
• Performing jobsite walks as needed by other team members.
• Establishing an active backlog of quotes to ensure the booking goal is met.
• Communicating with internal & external customers professionally and effectively.
• Building and maintaining rapport and positive working relations with field, office and management.
• Ordering equipment and materials as required.

As a Project Estimator at Star Service, you should have the following qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• 5+ years of preparing estimates and proposals for commercial, industrial, and municipal electrical projects using computerized estimation and digital takeoff software.
• Must have the ability to provide a complete commercial construction estimate and proposal for either plan/spec or design/build projects.
• Must be knowledgeable with reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, contacting suppliers for pricing and other documentation in order to prepare timely and accurate labor and cost estimates.
• Ability to survey electrical systems, interpret drawings, equipment and job conditions.
• Ability to obtain quotes from vendors on materials, equipment and lead times.
• Ability to understand/coordinate mechanical construction with other building trades.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with an emphasis on multitasking.
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational time management skills.
• Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with good communication and writing abilities.
