Job summary

Enterprise Electrical is seeking an Estimator II to independently develop accurate estimates for electrical service work, commercial construction, and data center scopes. You will build complete pricing, define scope, and ensure estimates reflect field practices and productivity.

You will support high-volume service work and bid opportunities, collaborating with field leadership, service managers, and vendors to validate scope and pricing while supporting profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent estimating experience.
• OSHA 30 required; valid driver's license required.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician license strongly preferred.
• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) preferred.
• 6–10+ years of electrical estimating experience.
• Experience leading estimates for large commercial and mission-critical/data center projects.
• Experience working directly with clients, general contractors, and senior operations leadership.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform quantity takeoffs from drawings for conduit, feeders, lighting, panels, devices, and low voltage/data systems.
• Prepare complete estimates for service work and small-to-mid-size commercial projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and field input to define project scope and pricing.
• Develop labor estimates based on installation methods and site conditions.
• Build detailed material lists and pricing using vendor quotes and data.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor quotes and define scope for subs.
• Explain estimate assumptions and labor strategy to operations during turnover.
• Maintain cost databases and pricing benchmarks.

Job description

The Estimator II independently develops accurate and competitive estimates for electrical service work, commercial construction projects, and defined scopes within mission critical/data center environments. This role is responsible for building complete pricing, defining scope, and ensuring estimates reflect actual field installation practices and productivity.

The Estimator II supports both high-volume service operations and structured bid work, requiring the ability to respond quickly to service requests while managing multiple bids. This position works directly with field leadership, service managers, and vendors to validate scope, pricing, and constructability, and plays a key role in delivering estimates that align with company profitability and execution capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Independently perform quantity takeoffs from drawings for conduit, feeders, lighting, panels, devices, and low voltage/data systems
• Prepare complete estimates for:
  • Service work (T&M, troubleshooting, quoted jobs, maintenance agreements)
  • Small-to-mid-size commercial construction projects
• Review drawings, specifications, service tickets, and field input to fully define project scope
• Develop labor estimates based on installation methods, site conditions, and productivity expectations
• Build detailed material lists and pricing using vendor quotes and historical data
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor quotes (e.g., trenching, directional boring, equipment setting)
• Write clear scopes of work for subcontractors and internal execution teams
• Respond to rapid-turn service pricing requests, often requiring same-day or next-day turnaround
• Identify scope gaps, overlaps, and inconsistencies prior to bid submission
• Attend pre-bid meetings and jobsite walkthroughs to validate scope and site conditions
• Coordinate directly with:
  • Service managers
  • Project managers
  • Superintendents and field supervisors
• Support project turnover by explaining estimate assumptions, labor strategy, and scope coverage to operations
• Maintain and update cost databases, vendor relationships, and pricing benchmarks

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong working knowledge of electrical construction and service operations, including installation of conduit systems, feeders, panels, and lighting
• Ability to independently read and interpret full drawing sets, specifications, and one-line diagrams
• Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and its impact on scope and cost
• Ability to build labor estimates based on real-world installation methods, not just templates
• Strong understanding of material pricing, availability, and market conditions
• Ability to identify constructability concerns and adjust estimates accordingly
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate subcontractor quotes and perform bid leveling
• Ability to manage multiple bids and service requests simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
• Effective communication skills with field teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders
• Proficiency in estimating software, Bluebeam/PlanSwift, and Microsoft Excel for pricing and analysis

Required Education and Experience

Education:

• Bachelor's degree preferred OR equivalent combination of advanced field and estimating experience
• Strong preference for candidates with field leadership background (foreman, superintendent)

Certifications/Licenses:

• OSHA 30 required
• Valid driver's license required
• Journeyman or Master Electrician license strongly preferred
• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) preferred

Experience Requirements:

• 6-10+ years of electrical estimating experience
• Proven experience leading estimates for:
  • Large commercial construction projects
  • Mission critical/data center projects
• Demonstrated ability to develop labor strategies and manage complex bids
• Experience working directly with clients, GCs, and senior operations leadership
• Proven ability to mentor and develop junior estimators
