Job summary

Leonardo DRS, Inc. in Wisconsin seeks an engineering technician for the Naval Power Systems business. You will design, develop, modify and analyze electronics systems; troubleshoot and evaluate data, and support engineering with hands-on tasks.

You will work independently for several days, assist in design, build, and procurement of new machinery and equipment, and contribute to documentation, testing, and process improvements while collaborating with engineers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Competent technical expertise in electronics or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, and analyze electronics systems; troubleshoot and evaluate data.
• Support engineering with moderately complex engineering duties and hands-on tasks.
• Work independently for several days.
• Assist in design, build and procurement of new machines, tools and fixtures.
• Complete process documentation, bill of materials, and route sheets.
• Review drawings to ascertain test specs and support manufacture.
• Fabricate and assemble electrical and/or mechanical components.
• Set up and conduct tests of units and components.
• Analyze test results and adjust equipment to meet specifications.
• Document test procedures and results; propose changes.
• Provide hands-on feedback to engineers; mentor technicians.
• Support plant layouts, manufacturing methods, and process improvements.

Job Responsibilities

• Involved with the design, development, modification and analysis of various electronics systems. May include Hardware, Power Engineering, Power Electronic Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, Integrated Circuit Engineering, Components or others. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or systems and makes modifications as needed. Compile and evaluate design and test data. Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches.


• Support engineering with moderately complex engineering duties and/or hands‑on tasks


• Work independently for several days


• Comfortable with the shop/laboratory and equipment


• Assist in design, build and/or procurement of new or improved machines, tools, fixtures and material handling equipment and coordinating the implementation


• Responsible for completing process documentation, bill of materials, route sheets, etc


• Review project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem and possible solutions, and to support the design for manufacture


• Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified electrical and/or mechanical components or assemblies for products


• Set up and conduct tests of units and components


• Analyze test results related to the design and test objectives and adjust equipment to bring within specifications


• Record these test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods


• Provide and develop documentation to maintain equipment


• May lead technician teams in development or mentor other technicians


• Provide hands‑on feedback to engineers


• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization


• Assist in the development of plant layouts, manufacturing methods and process improvements


• May coordinate maintenance projects


• Mentor and coach less experienced technicians
