Job summary

The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is seeking a Senior System Engineer in Bethel, CT to lead the design and development of complex power electronics systems. You will review customer specs, develop architectures, and prepare budgets and proposals, ensuring RTMs are used to define requirements and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities include leading large projects, coordinating an engineering team, and verifying performance via simulation and lab tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of detailed design experience in power applications.
• Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink for simulation of electrical systems down to a component level.
• Model-based design experience of power electronic systems desired.
• Real-time modeling experience of power electronic systems desired.
• Experience with Navy or other defense applications is highly preferred.

• Generate the necessary design requirements to specify components and subsystems of a product through the use of an RTM.
• Provide technical leadership on large projects, with the ability to identify and delegate tasks to an engineering team, and drive completion of activities on time and budget.

Job Summary

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of complex power electronics systems. This role involves reviewing customer specifications and requirements to develop cost-effective designs, conceptualizing system and subsystem architectures, and creating comprehensive technical documentation and budget estimates for proposals. The engineer will identify and implement strategies to mitigate key development risks, verify product performance through simulation, analysis, and laboratory testing, and generate detailed design requirements using a requirements traceability matrix (RTM). Additionally, this position provides technical leadership on large projects, coordinating and delegating tasks within the engineering team to ensure successful completion.
