Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a Staff Spacecraft Platform Engineer to act as the senior technical owner of our reusable spacecraft bus, guiding architecture across mechanical, electrical, solar/power, thermal, avionics, and software to scale with a growing mission portfolio.

You will lead cross-disciplinary system trades, set engineering standards, and mentor the platform team in a hybrid role at our San Jose, CA office, three days per week.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in spacecraft or complex-system engineering with platform ownership.
• Broad understanding of spacecraft subsystems with deep knowledge in at least one subsystem.
• Ownership and delivery from requirements through design reviews, qualification, V&V, and launch/flight operations.

Responsibilities

• Own spacecraft platform architecture and its evolution across the mission portfolio.
• Lead cross-disciplinary system trades and platform requirements development.
• Bridge mechanical, electrical, avionics, thermal, and software as the technical authority.
• Drive reuse, modularity, and standardization for rapid mission configuration.
• Set platform-engineering standards and lead platform-level design reviews.
