Job summary

Universal Instruments is seeking an accomplished engineering leader to join its team as the head of Electrical Engineering. You will oversee the electrical engineering function, guide system and hardware design, and mentor a group of engineers, designers, and technicians across new product development and sustaining engineering.

The role requires 10–15 years in the field, with 3–5 years managing direct reports, plus project management experience.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering; M.Sc. preferred.
• 10-15 years of progressive industry experience, with 3-5 yrs managing direct reports.
• Project management experience.
• Preferred domain experience in capital equipment product development.
• Experience in electrical systems design, board level design, motion control, or vision systems.
• Adheres to quality system policies; continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians through coaching and performance reviews.
• Oversee project delivery, ensuring alignment with objectives and resource plans.
• Manage departmental budget and third-party resources to optimize efficiency.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in lab and development tools.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and safety regulations.
• Travel up to 10% to satellite locations, customers, suppliers, tradeshows, or recruiting events.
