Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Electrical Intern to join our Buildings team in the United States. You will work with experienced engineers on multiple projects for public and private clients, gaining hands-on experience under supervision.

The role focuses on developing electrical designs for lighting, distribution, energy efficiency, and fire alarm systems in various facilities, with an office-based setting and some field work as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, etc.)
• Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other team members
• Ability to learn and develop working knowledge of CAD software (Revit and AutoCAD)
• Working knowledge of basic electrical engineering principles and calculations
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work under and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
• Strong work ethic and motivation to learn
• Commitment to a culture of safety

Responsibilities

• Participate in Summer Intern Design Project with interns of other building design disciplines
• Facilitate and ensure the quality of the project deliverables
• Follow production guidelines and project standards of the department
• Learn to apply fundamental engineering principles to solve real-world problems
• Support team operations and play an integral part in the promotion of our health and safety culture
• Coordinate with other cross discipline professionals on assigned project
