Job summary

Arup, a global advisor and designer in the built environment, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern in Houston to work on power distribution, lighting, grounding, and related analyses for buildings and infrastructure projects.

You will perform short circuit, coordination, load and arc flash studies, lighting calculations, and circuitry assignments while collaborating across disciplines and vendors. The role emphasizes innovation, independence, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or similar degree (e.g., BSAE, Electrical concentration).
• Demonstrated interest in electrical engineering with emphasis on power within buildings and infrastructure projects.
• Strong planning, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting and lighting controls for buildings and infrastructure projects.
• Perform short circuit, overcurrent coordination, load and arc flash studies.
• Conduct lighting photometric calculations using AGI and assign circuitry for Power and Lighting devices.
• Prepare technical reports and use Revit MEP and SKM on projects.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and vendors to gain knowledge and experience.
• Attend meetings and participate in discussions with architects and other teams.
