Job summary

Arup in Houston is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to design power distribution, lighting, grounding, and protection for buildings and infrastructure. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or similar.
• Interest in electrical engineering with a focus on power in buildings and infrastructure.
• Strong planning and organizing skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication of technical concepts.
• Initiative, creative problem solving, and teamwork.
• Ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
• EIT/ FE certification preferred.
• Coursework in building systems design, electrical power systems, control systems, and codes/standards preferred.
• Internship experience in a consulting firm with focus on building electrical power systems preferred.
• Sustainability interest evidenced by activities or projects preferred.
• Experience with Revit MEP, AGI 32, SKM Power Tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting and lighting controls for buildings and infrastructure.
• Perform short circuit, overcurrent coordination, load and arc flash studies.
• Carry out lighting photometric calculations using AGI.
• Assign circuitry for Power and Lighting devices.
• Prepare technical reports and calculations.
• Work on projects using Revit MEP and SKM Power Tools.
• Contribute to development of reports and electrical calculations.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and vendors to learn new topics.
• Attend meetings and engage in discussions with disciplines and architects.
