Job summary

IMEG, Chicago, IL, is offering a 10–12 week Electrical Engineering Intern program for Summer 2027. You will assist in designing electrical systems, researching equipment, and supporting project teams across education, government, and healthcare sectors.

You will document decisions, coordinate with architecture, structural, and MEP disciplines, and assist with addenda, site observations, and client instructions under the guidance of senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong interest in design consulting and electrical systems.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Skilled in AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems per code and IMEG standards.
• Research commercially available equipment for project use.
• Support client relations and maintain project design notebooks and permanent records.
• Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, tech, clerical, suppliers).
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while tracking progress.
• Review project documents for accuracy before final checks and issue addenda.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and assist with contract services as required.
