Job summary

Battelle’s Defense & Materials Solutions team seeks an Electrical Engineering Graduate Student Co-op in Columbus, Ohio, to contribute to design, testing and production of complex electronic systems. This 100% onsite internship supports national security projects and provides hands-on learning in a collaborative environment.

The role emphasizes building hardware, writing documentation, and applying lab skills with equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Currently pursuing a master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering.
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain an active DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze equipment to establish operating data, run tests, and select components based on specs and reliability.
• Develop tools, simulations, and models for electric power systems for planning, operations, and performance optimization.
• Maintain, test and troubleshoot electrical/embedded systems within an integrated team.
• Collaborate with Battelle engineers in Columbus to design, fabricate and integrate new systems.
• Generate electrical schematics and follow installation/testing procedures.
• Build, prototype, and evaluate electronic hardware in laboratory environments.
• Prepare engineering documentation as required.
