MKS Instruments is seeking an exceptional Electrical Engineer Co-op for a 6‑month internship to help develop vacuum valve products and address customer problems. You will work with experienced engineers across analog, digital and embedded electronics, contributing to design, testing and optimization efforts.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, debugging, and collaboration, with exposure to multiple divisions and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Electrical Engineering or related major.
• Solid fundamentals in electrical engineering principles.
• Able to read electrical schematics.
• Hands-on approach to problem solving with electronics.
• Experience with embedded systems hardware a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop analog and digital hardware to control vacuum valves.
• Assist with design, debugging and board bring-up for real-time embedded electronics.
• Participate in DFMEA, design reviews and creation of technical specifications.
• Perform failure analyses and corrective actions with vendors as needed.
• Evaluate designs for performance, cost, reliability and manufacturability.
