Job summary

MKS Instruments is seeking an exceptional Electrical Engineer Co-op to join the Valves Group for a 6-month internship (01/05/2027–06/30/2027). You will work with experienced engineers to develop vacuum valve products and solve customer problems.

Responsibilities include designing analog/digital hardware, debugging embedded electronics, participating in DFMEA and design reviews, and communicating technical information clearly.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or relevant majors
• Solid fundamental knowledge and skills in electrical engineering
• Able to read and understand electrical schematics
• Proficient with multi-meter, oscilloscope, and other equipment for embedded systems development
• Good communication skills and a hands-on approach to problem solving
• Ability to work with minimum supervision with strong sense of ownership and desire for excellence

Responsibilities

• Participate in design and development of analog and digital electronic hardware used to control vacuum valves.
• Assist with design, debugging and board bring-up of analog and digital real-time embedded electronics for microprocessor-based control and communication hardware platform using combination of simulation, analysis, prototyping and testing.
• Participate in project activities, including DFMEA, design reviews, and creation of technical specifications.
• Perform FAs for customers, make a corrective action plan to mitigate design issues and/or work with vendors to resolve component quality issues.
• Evaluate the design to meet requirements factoring in performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Communicate technical information effectively in both oral and written form.
