Job summary

MKS Instruments is seeking an exceptional Electrical Engineer Co-op to join the team for a 6‑month internship (01/05/2027 to 06/30/2027) in Andover, MA. You will work with experienced engineers to develop vacuum valve products and solve customer problems.

You will gain exposure to DFMEA, design reviews, and hands-on electronics development, with opportunities to learn across divisions and network with peers and executives.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or relevant majors.
• Solid fundamental knowledge and skills in electrical engineering.
• Able to read and understand electrical schematics.
• Proficient with measurement tools used in embedded systems development.
• Good communication skills and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision with strong ownership.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design and development of analog and digital electronic hardware used to control vacuum valves.
• Assist with design, debugging and board bring-up of embedded electronics for control hardware platform.
• Participate in DFMEA, design reviews, and creation of technical specifications.
• Perform FAs for customers and coordinate corrective actions with vendors.
• Evaluate designs for performance, cost, reliability and manufacturability.
• Communicate technical information effectively in oral and written form.
