Position Summary: Ombra is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician. The staff member would focus on supporting active contracts, projects, and company efforts through documentation, technical writing, research, design and hands‑on technical work. Position would also have the opportunity to work research and develop projects relating to Ombra's capabilities and their personal interests as they align with opportunities of the Department of War (DOW) and similar agencies which offer funding. This role requires strong problem‑solving skills, proficiency hands‑on hardware design and fabrication, and the ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Fulfill basic technical tasks related to design, analysis, testing, integration and systems engineering specifically related to advanced hardware systems.
- Adapt to a variety of fields of engineering and inter-connected projects to effectively contribute to all efforts.
- Contribute to technical writing efforts in project development, potential future projects following Ombra capabilities, monthly/ final report documentation and project update/planning documentation.
- Activities such as data collection and analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, hardware and software improvement designs, trade studies, design for manufacturer studies, creating or modifying innovative technical ideas/designs and general studies into technology.
- Project specific research for both active projects and development and potential technical projects in line with Ombra capabilities and technology areas.
- Support/lead technical demonstrations; test advanced technology solutions both internal and with customers.
Qualifications/Competencies
- Must be US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
- Relevant hands‑on technical experience in electronic and mechanical hardware design, assembly, troubleshooting, and testing. A degree/certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering/Engineering Technology preferred.
- Knowledge of the following: circuit boards/ power systems/devices, radio frequency (RF) systems/devices (receivers/transmitters/antennas), and network systems/devices desired.
- Must live and be willing to work in the greater Potsdam or Massena, New York areas.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, detail oriented and excellent work ethic.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Technical writing skills.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25% to support customer demonstrations as well as our other facilities.
