Job summary

Sigma Software is seeking a Senior Hardware Safety Engineer in California to lead quantitative and qualitative functional safety activities and implement robust FMEDA analyses. The role requires experience with ISO 26262, SOC/FMEDA, and hardware fault-injection strategies to meet automotive safety standards.

Work closely with firmware, EE, and FW teams to enhance diagnostic coverage, and guide V&V efforts alongside the Test and Test Infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Robotics Engineering.
Familiarity with ISO 26262 or other safety standards.
6+ years of experience performing Board Level FMEDA and SOC FMEDA.
Collaborative team player with strong written and in-person communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead and participate in functional safety activities that lead to FA/Diagnostic Analysis.
Read vendor documentation to identify diagnostic capabilities.
Collaborate with firmware engineers to enable diagnostics and with the V&V team to verify diagnostics.
Guide V&V efforts with Test Team and Test Infrastructure to improve diagnostics verification.
Develop requirements to improve diagnostic coverage of hardware with EE & FW teams.
Analyze safety manuals for complex SOCs and microprocessors.
Develop safety-critical hardware requirements for fault-injection testing to comply with ISO 26262:2018.
