Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to drive ISO-26262 compliance across new product development in the Mobility Group. You will define safety goals, perform hazard analyses, and guide design decisions to meet functional safety requirements and final project sign-offs.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Electronics and 7+ years in functional safety, vehicle development, and audit roles. In-office, standard 40 hours/week in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and 7+ years in an engineering role.
• 5+ years in functional safety engineering and vehicle product development.
• 3+ years in audit/assurance roles with program sign-off authority.
• Experience with DIA (Development Interface Agreements) with customers and suppliers.
• Experience with requirements definition and decomposition using DOORs Next Generation or equivalent.
• Hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA).
• FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA experience.
• Developing a Safety Case per ISO-26262.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver functional safety per ISO-26262 across new product development.
• Negotiate scope and responsibilities for safety activities with customers and suppliers.
• Set and manage a detailed product functional safety plan with engineering and program management.
• Assess risks of product hazards and define functional safety goals.
• Cascade safety requirements to hardware and software subsystems.
• Assess verification and validation plans and results.
• Provide sign-off for work packages at each development stage.
• Plan and conduct functional safety audits and assessments.
• Provide final safety sign-off for projects.
• Mentor and train for continuous safety process improvements.
