Job summary

Maverick Power is seeking an enthusiastic R&D Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and test low and medium voltage power systems. You will drive innovative energy solutions, contribute to next-generation technologies, and work hands-on across design, prototyping and testing activities.

This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with 8+ years experience.
• Minimum 5 years in R&D or design of LV and MV power systems.
• Strong background in control system design using SolidWorks Electrical.
• Experience with power electronics, protection systems and control systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, UL, NEC standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate and develop electrical systems for LV up to 1 kV and MV up to 38 kV.
• Prototype and test power system components to validate performance.
• Conduct research to explore new technologies for efficiency, safety and sustainability.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software and product teams to integrate electrical systems.
• Document specifications, reports and regulatory filings.
• Ensure designs comply with safety, environmental and regulatory standards.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated R&D Electrical Engineer with expertise in low voltage LV and medium voltage MV power systems to join our dynamic team The successful candidate will drive the design development and testing of innovative power system solutions contributing to the advancement of next generation energy technologies This role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles hands on experience with LVMV systems and a passion for research and innovation

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Development: Design simulate and develop electrical systems and components for low voltage up to 1kV and medium voltage 1kV38kV applications ensuring compliance with industry standards eg IEEE IEC UL
• Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes of power system components including transformers switchgear circuit breakers and control systems to validate performance and reliability
• Research and Innovation: Conduct research to explore new technologies materials and methodologies to improve efficiency safety and sustainability of LVMV power systems
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross functional teams including mechanical engineers software engineers and product managers to integrate electrical systems into broader product designs
• Documentation: Prepare technical reports design specifications and documentation to support product development regulatory approvals and intellectual property filings
• Standards and Compliance: Ensure all designs and processes adhere to safety environmental and regulatory standards including NEC NEMA and OSHA requirements
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues in power systems during development testing and field implementation phases

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or minimum of 8 years of qualified work experience may be substituted
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D or design of low voltage andor medium voltage power systems
• Strong background in control system design using SolidWorks Electrical
• Proven track record in designing and testing electrical components such as transformers switchgear or power distribution systems
• Experience with power electronics protection systems and control systems is a plus
• Strong understanding of power system components including circuit breakers relays and busbars
• Familiarity with industry standards eg IEEE IEC UL NEC
• Proficient in using CAD tools SolidWorks Electrical for wiring schematics and panel layout design
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters degree is preferred
• Experience with renewable energy integration eg solar wind energy storage microgrids into LVMV systems
• Familiarity with smart grid technologies or IoT applications in power systems
• Professional Engineer PE license or equivalent certification

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Work Environment

• May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities in offices in multiple shops and in commercial buildings Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods
