Job summary

Corbin Consulting Engineers in Tempe, AZ is seeking a mid- to senior-level Electrical Engineer to join a growing, employee-owned team. You will design electrical systems for technology and industrial clients, prepare construction documents, and coordinate with multi-discipline teams.

You will work on power distribution, lighting, low voltage systems, and telecommunication, life safety and security projects, with opportunities for leadership and professional growth in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
• PE license or ability to obtain within six months.
• 7+ years of independent designer/engineer experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and design electrical systems and prepare construction documents.
• Prescriptive design for low voltage systems: telecom, life safety, security.
• Prepare engineering studies; survey conditions, evaluate capacities, and propose upgrades.
• Coordinate with other engineering team members across disciplines.
• Technical writing for engineering documents.
• Site investigations to confirm and document field conditions.
• Present deliverables in design reviews and interface with clients.

Summary

We are seeking a mid- to senior-level electrical engineer for our Tempe office who will work with a skilled multi-discipline team of peers with a wide range of experience levels. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new office serving industry leaders.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and designing electrical systems and preparing construction documents with varying degrees of complexity. You will work with power, lighting, and power distribution systems.
• Prescriptive design for low voltage systems, including telecommunications, life safety and security systems.
• Preparing engineering studies for power and low voltage systems that survey existing conditions, evaluate capacities, and make recommendations for corrections and upgrades.
• Coordinating with other engineering team members, including those from other technical disciplines.
• Technical writing for engineering documents.
• Conducting site investigations to confirm and document field conditions.
• Attending and presenting deliverables in design review meetings and interfacing directly with clients.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Thorough understanding of basic NEC requirements, including electrical clearances, circuit sizing, de-rating, motor circuit design, transformer feeder design and separation of class 1/2/3 wiring.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook. EasyPower and SKM experience is a plus.
• Dedicated and committed to doing what it takes to get the job done. Must be punctual and results-oriented!

• Team players and good at both verbal and written communication.
• Highly organized with the ability to lead and follow instructions.
• Required to complete project requirements from scoping through design and commissioning.

Education and Experience

• BSEE or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
• 7+ years of experience as an independent designer/engineer.
• Experience with advanced technology and industrial clients is preferred.
• PE license, or ability to obtain PE registration within six months of starting.
