Job summary

Corbin Consulting Engineers in Tempe, AZ is seeking a mid- to senior-level Electrical Engineer, PE, to lead electrical system design for diverse industrial and technology projects. You'll prepare construction documents and coordinate with multi‑discipline teams in a growing, employee‑owned firm.

You will mentor junior staff, deliver quality engineering, and interface with clients during design reviews. A strong NEC background, hands‑on experience with power and low‑voltage systems, and

Qualifications

  • BSEE or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within six months of starting.
  • 7+ years of independent electrical design experience.
  • Experience with advanced technology and industrial clients preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM or EasyPower is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and designing electrical systems and preparing construction documents with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Prescriptive design for low voltage systems, including telecommunications, life safety and security systems.
  • Preparing engineering studies for power and low voltage systems that survey existing conditions, evaluate capacities, and make recommendations for corrections and upgrades.
  • Coordinating with other engineering team members, including those from other technical disciplines.
  • Technical writing for engineering documents.
  • Conducting site investigations to confirm and document field conditions.
  • Attending and presenting deliverables in design review meetings and interfacing directly with clients.

Summary:

We are seeking a mid- to senior-level electrical engineer for our Tempe office who will work with a skilled multi-discipline team of peers with a wide range of experience levels. This is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new office serving industry leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and designing electrical systems and preparing construction documents with varying degrees of complexity. You will work with power, lighting, and power distribution systems.
  • Prescriptive design for low voltage systems, including telecommunications, life safety and security systems.
  • Preparing engineering studies for power and low voltage systems that survey existing conditions, evaluate capacities, and make recommendations for corrections and upgrades.
  • Coordinating with other engineering team members, including those from other technical disciplines.
  • Technical writing for engineering documents.
  • Conducting site investigations to confirm and document field conditions.
  • Attending and presenting deliverables in design review meetings and interfacing directly with clients.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Thorough understanding of basic NEC requirements, including electrical clearances, circuit sizing, de-rating, motor circuit design, transformer feeder design and separation of class 1/2/3 wiring.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook. EasyPower and SKM experience is a plus.
  • Dedicated and committed to doing what it takes to get the job done. Must be punctual and results-oriented!

  • Willing to learn quickly and independently.
  • Team players and good at both verbal and written communication.
  • Highly organized with the ability to lead and follow instructions.
  • Required to complete project requirements from scoping through design and commissioning.
Education and Experience
  • BSEE or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • 7+ years of experience as an independent designer/engineer.
  • Experience with advanced technology and industrial clients is preferred.
  • PE license, or ability to obtain PE registration within six months of starting.

Please identify any relevant skills you might have, such as AutoCAD or Revit, or electrical system modeling software such as SKM or EasyPower. Please provide any past work or volunteer experience in your response, including those that may be non-engineering related.
