Job summary

Salas O'Brien in New York City is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for diverse clients, including schools, healthcare and commercial facilities. You’ll design power, lighting, fire alarm and related systems while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

This hybrid role offers a signing bonus of $5,000 to $10,000 and a competitive base salary in the six-figure range, along with a comprehensive benefits package and career growth

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of electrical design experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• New York State Professional Engineer
• Experience supporting K-12, higher education, healthcare, institutional, and/or commercial projects in the New York market.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft
• Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines, including proficiency with the National Electrical Code.
• A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to delivering quality work.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively across multiple priorities.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and balance competing project needs.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems, including lighting, power, and life safety, for renovations, new facilities, and modernization projects.
• Lead projects and ensure quality through QA/QC of design work.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers as they develop technical skills and project experience.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other disciplines to deliver coordinated designs.
• Apply your technical expertise to load sizing and service requirements for electrification projects.
