Job summary

Maverick Power in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and integrate MV/LV modular power distribution systems for mission-critical applications. You will lead system architecture, equipment specification, protection, grounding, and compliance with UL, IEEE, and NFPA standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating interfaces with switchgear, transformers, UPS, and energy storage, plus developing control philosophies and BOMs to ensure safe, manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial, utility, or mission-critical power distribution design.
• Experience with MV equipment (5kV–35kV class), including switchgear and protective relaying.
• Working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, IEEE C37 series, IEEE 1584, UL switchgear/switchboard standards.
• Experience performing or leading short circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical.

Responsibilities

• Develop power system architectures (one-lines, three-lines as required) for MV (5kV–35kV class) and LV modular systems.
• Size and specify major equipment in accordance with applicable standards.
• Define grounding and bonding strategies per NEC and IEEE 80 / IEEE 3007.
• Specify and integrate transfer switch systems (UL 1008) and UPS systems (UL 1778).
• Coordinate battery and energy storage integration (UL 1973, UL 9540).
• Define protection philosophies and relay schemes in line with IEEE C37 standards.
• Develop control and interlock philosophies with controls and protection engineers.
• Develop schematics for auxiliary power, lighting, panels, and control panels.
• Coordinate interfaces with HVAC and fire protection (NFPA 72, NFPA 855).
• Support UL/NRTL listing efforts and major customer compliance programs.
• Develop and maintain BOMs for designed products.
• Collaborate with procurement, project management, and production teams.
