Job summary

Hamilton Company is seeking an Electrical Engineer for Cerillo's microplate reader project in Charlottesville, VA. You will design analog and digital circuitry, develop embedded firmware, and collaborate with mechanical and optical teams to deliver compact, robust lab instruments for the life sciences market.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of hardware design experience, with exposure to regulated environments and EMC testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 3+ years of hardware/electronics design experience.
  • Experience with medical devices, scientific instrumentation, or biotech is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate analog and digital circuitry for precision measurement systems.
  • Develop embedded firmware (C/C++) for microcontrollers managing sensor data and communications.
  • Conduct electrical and functional testing including EMC/EMI evaluation and regulatory pre-compliance testing.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and optical engineers to integrate electronics into compact enclosures.
  • Perform PCB layout with noise management and thermal considerations.
  • Support DFM/DFT with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues at board and system levels and maintain design documentation.
