Goodwin Recruiting's client, a respected engineering firm in Houston, seeks an Engineer IV, Electrical to lead complex electrical projects and mentor junior engineers. The role requires a strong background in power distribution, lighting, grounding, and controls, with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of experience, proficiency in AutoCAD/REVIT/SKM and related tools, and a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, and electrical design software (SKM, AGI, Visual).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and analysis of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and controls.
• Produce and review engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents ensuring NEC/IEEE compliance and local codes.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and designers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Support project planning, risk management, and business development with technical input.

Engineer IV, Electrical Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience in industrial, commercial, government, academic, R&D, or multi-family projects
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, and electrical design software such as SKM or lighting design tools (e.g., AGI, Visual)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred

Engineer IV, Electrical Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and analysis of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and controls
• Produce and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents ensuring compliance with NEC, IEEE, and local codes
• Serve as a technical mentor and resource for junior engineers and designers
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to deliver projects on time and within budget
• Support project planning, risk management, and business development activities through technical input and proposal contributions
• Participate in construction administration, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site coordination
• Promote best practices and continuous improvement within the electrical engineering discipline
