Our client is seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer II to join its growing MEP engineering team in Houston. This role blends hands‑on electrical system design with cross‑discipline coordination, client interaction, and construction‑phase involvement, offering exposure across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for commercial projects (lighting, power, emergency, fire alarm, security)
- Develop code‑compliant layouts, sizing, and technical specifications
- Produce and coordinate Revit/BIM drawings through all project phases (SD–CD)
- Collaborate with multi‑discipline teams to ensure coordinated design
- Support construction administration (site visits, shop drawings, RFIs, punch lists)
- Define scope and maintain alignment with contracts, budget, and schedule
- Build strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and code officials
- Mentor junior designers and support value engineering initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of consulting electrical design experience
- Commercial project background (aviation, healthcare, higher ed, hospitality, government preferred)
- PE or EIT preferredExperience coordinating with multi‑discipline teams
- Familiar with design‑build and design‑bid‑build delivery
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes
- Solid technical, budgeting, and value engineering experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and based in Houston
Physical & Travel Requirements
- 10–35% travel for site visits and client meetings
- Ability to work extended hours when needed
- Regular computer/design software use
- Occasional exposure to construction site conditions
Compensation and Benefits
- $100,000-$120,000+ (depending on experience)
- Hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 remote)
