Job summary

RTX’s Hardware Engineering Center in McKinney, TX offers an Electrical Engineering Intern position to gain hands-on experience in designing, analyzing, and supporting military electronics products. You will contribute to schematic capture, HDL coding, and lab testing while learning CAE tools and standard U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on electrical engineering skills through lab testing, troubleshooting, and integrating analog and/or digital electronics.
  • Work with industry-standard electrical engineering CAE tools.
  • Use electrical engineering lab equipment daily.
  • Work with schematic capture, HDL code development, synthesis, and simulation.
  • Create reports and briefs using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

An effective candidate for the Electrical Engineering Inter position will support in multi‑discipline teams supporting primarily military programs through application of EE resources and design processes. Chosen candidate will be a team member supporting on the design, analysis and support of electronics products.

What You Will Do:
  • Gain valued electrical engineering skills through hands‑on lab work testing, troubleshooting, and integrating analog, and/or digital electronics

  • Utilizing electrical engineering lab equipment on daily basis
  • Working with schematic capture, HDL code development, synthesis, and simulation

What You Will Learn:

You will learn and utilize applicable internal processes and tools for the development of system level hardware. In addition, the successful candidate will learn frequent use and application of technical standards, concepts and techniques. Candidate is expected to provide recommendations for a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. Effective candidate should expect to be immersed in an exciting, team‑based, and challenging technical environment where one with ability and initiative can thrive.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session. Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of Summer 2027.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience reading drawings and electrical schematics
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting electrical circuits
  • Experience documenting test results and repair recommendations
  • Experience working in a lab environment with standard Electrical Engineering lab equipment (i.e., Vector Network Analyzers, Power Meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, digital multi meters (DMMs), signal sources)

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
