Job summary

Kiewit Corporation in Lenexa, KS is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Power district team. You will support design engineering, perform electrical calculations, develop plans, and help mitigate risk on construction projects.

You will work with experienced engineers, gain hands-on exposure to drawings, specifications, and vendor coordination, while refining your technical and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Above 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
• Demonstrate interest in power systems engineering.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Check manufacturer wiring drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, and data sheets.
• Research requirements from engineering standards, contracts and proposals.
• Prepare basic engineering calculations and drawings per Kiewit Power Engineers standards.
• Provide draft equipment specifications for major electrical equipment.
• Perform bid evaluations and coordinate equipment contracts with vendors.
• Maintain engineering records and lists as required.
• Develop and manage cable and termination information using plant design software.
• Coordinate work with engineers, designers, PMs, construction personnel and vendors.
• Familiarize with departmental design standards and applicable codes.
