Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Intern for the Kansas City office in Lenexa, KS. The role supports establishing and improving company standards and tools, and contributing to project success through 3D modeling and electrical design tasks.

The internship offers exposure to 3D CAD tools, design documentation creation, and collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines in a large EPC environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Associate, Vocational or Bachelor’s degree in Design & Drafting technology, Engineering Technology or Design or a related degree.
• Experience with 3D programs and ability to conceptualize in a 3D environment.
• Ability to communicate via emails and electronic meeting requests.
• Working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and PDF software.
• Represent Kiewit to owners, contractors, vendors and others outside the organization.
• Must have the ability to work in Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities

• Reports project progression updates and issues to Lead Electrical Designers.
• Utilizes applicable engineering national and local codes.
• Develops 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches and design skills; checks for interferences and constructability.
• Creates plan drawings and details for electrical deliverables.
• Develops sketches to accompany concept documentation; develops schematics and one-line drawings from engineering sketches or markups.
• Maintains master drawing set with current revisions for electrical and controls design drawings.
