Job summary

OTTO Engineering, Inc. in Illinois is offering a Summer 2027 Electrical Engineer Intern position.

You will support the Communications Division by creating and modifying PCB schematics with Altium CAD, building and testing breadboard circuits, and debugging circuits while collecting data. You will learn and participate in the Product Development Process, draft Engineering Change Notices, and assist with related duties.

• Enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program pursuing a BSEE
• Going into junior or senior year
• Familiarity with basic Electrical Circuits and Schematics

OTTO Communications designs and manufactures innovative communications and power management accessories for two-way radio products for demanding and mission-critical applications. The Electrical Engineer Intern will perform a variety of duties to support the Engineering team for the Communications Division.

Specifically, the Electrical Engineer Intern will:

• Create or modify PCB schematics using Altium CAD tool
• Build and test breadboard circuits
• Debug circuits, gather and present data
• Learn and participate in the Product Development Process
• Create Engineering Change Notices
• Assist with other related duties as required or assigned

What you’ll need to bring to the table:

• Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program pursuing a BSEE
• Completed basic Electrical Engineering classes - going into junior or senior year
• Familiarity with basic Electrical Circuits and Schematics
• A strong desire to learn
• Good communication skills
• 100% on-site
