Job summary

OTTO Engineering, Inc. is offering a Summer 2027 Electrical Engineer Intern – Communications position. The role focuses on hands-on design and testing of PCBs and breadboard circuits for our communications division, under the engineering team.

You will gain exposure to product development processes and change notices while working on real-world, mission-critical applications. Qualified students pursuing a BSEE with basic circuit knowledge will participate on-site, learning and contributing to

• Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program pursuing a BSEE.
• Completed basic Electrical Engineering classes and advancing to junior or senior year.
• Familiarity with basic electrical circuits and schematics.
• Strong desire to learn and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Create or modify PCB schematics using Altium CAD tool.
• Build and test breadboard circuits.
• Debug circuits, gather and present data.

OTTO’s opportunity:

OTTO Communications designs and manufactures innovative communications and power management accessories for two-way radio products for demanding and mission-critical applications. For over 65 years, OTTO's products have been recognized for excellence by the military, law enforcement, public safety agencies, and retail and commercial customers worldwide.

The Electrical Engineer Intern will perform a variety of duties to support the Engineering team for the Communications Division.

Specifically, the Electrical Engineer Intern will:

• Create or modify PCB schematics using Altium CAD tool
• Build and test breadboard circuits
• Debug circuits, gather and present data
• Learn and participate in the Product Development Process
• Create Engineering Change Notices
• Assist with other related duties as required or assigned

What you’ll need to bring to the table:

• Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program pursuing a BSEE
• Completed basic Electrical Engineering classes - going into junior or senior year
• Familiarity with basic Electrical Circuits and Schematics
• A strong desire to learn
• Good communication skills
• 100% on-site

What OTTO offers for this specific position:

• Hourly rate: $18.00 per hour
