Job description

Electrical Engineer II – Communications

OTTO – designed, manufactured and precision tested, right here in the USA.

OTTO’s opportunity:

Our Electrical Engineer II will design circuitry for Communications and Power Management Products. Working on concept through production product development, as well as participate in the technical resolution of field and production issues. Prior experience in portable (battery powered) electronics, analog, audio, and digital circuitry is desired. Degree of supervision required to perform job duties should not exceed 40%.

Specifically, the Electrical Engineer II will:

  • Analog/Digital circuit design, prototyping, and performance evaluation to meet customer and/or internal specifications
  • Component specification and selection
  • Generate schematics, bills-of-material (BOMs), and provide PCB layout guidance
  • Evaluate and document product performance to customer specifications
  • Technical sales support
  • Determine production test requirements
  • Assist Production to validate test equipment as needed
  • Ongoing support of existing products
  • Coordinate with Mechanical Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sales
  • Maintain required engineering documentation: schematics, BOMs, ECNs, drawings, layouts
  • Assist with other related duties as required or assigned

What you’ll need to bring to the table:

  • BSEE
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in concept-through-production product development
  • Audio and Analog circuit design experience (OpAmps, Filters, Transistor Circuitry, Codecs, Power Supplies, etc)
  • Digital and microprocessor circuit design experience
  • Prior Experience with Portable (battery operated) products is a plus
  • Schematic Entry (Altium experience is a plus)
  • Some embedded coding experience is a plus
  • EMC and ESD Compliance, and Intrinsically Safe (UL, ATEX, FM) circuit experience a plus
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated, proactive
  • Completes work and communicates issues and status in a timely fashion
  • Attention to detail, results-oriented problem solver, critical thinker
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

What OTTO offers for this specific position:

  • Target base salary hiring range: $75,000 to $85,000, based on qualifications and experience.
  • Profit Sharing Bonus - OTTO believes that it’s fair to share the profits that the employees help to make; profit sharing is distributed to employees twice a year.
  • Vacation: 80 hours - vacation time is earned on the anniversary date.
