Job summary

Dennis Group, a leader in food plant design, seeks an Electrical Engineer Intern/Co-Op for building power systems in Salt Lake City. You’ll design normal, emergency, and standby power distribution for industrial facilities, and draft bid documents while coordinating with vendors and trades.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in calculations, lighting, fire alarms, and low-voltage systems, plus travel to project sites and ongoing support for department standards.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Travel to customer project sites for fieldwork (~25%).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for building power distribution (208V/480V).
• Document calculations: short circuit, coordination, arc flash, sizing.
• Produce bid documents and drawings (layout, one-line, schedules).
• Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and trades.
• Assist in electrical bid process and project planning.
• Support standard development and research best practices.
