Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Building Electrical Group in Salt Lake City for Summer 2027. You will help design electrical systems for building power, lighting, and low-voltage networks for food & beverage facilities.

You will perform calculations, prepare bid documents, and assist with vendor coordination while gaining hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and NEC standards in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit or similar software.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Access).
• Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer project sites.

Responsibilities

• Design building electrical systems for power distribution (208V, 480V, MV) for industrial facilities.
• Document calculations for design (short circuit, coordination, arc flash, generator sizing, voltage drop, load calculations).
• Produce bid documents: layout drawings, one-lines, schedules, details, specs.
• CAD – add 2D devices to Xrefs.
• Procure long lead fixtures and power distribution equipment.
• Assist in managing electrical bid process and startup.
• Support department-wide standard development.
