Job summary

Gresham Smith in Nashville is seeking an Electrical Engineer-in-Training to join our office. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on healthcare projects, coordinating across disciplines and maintaining strong communication and organizational skills.

Ideal candidate has a B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering, 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience, and E.I. certification or pursuit of licensure within 2–3 years. Proficiency with REVIT/ETAP and Visual lighting software is a plus.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of relevant work experience in electrical design engineering.
• E.I. certification is required or can be attained and licensure pursued within 2–3 years.
• Working knowledge of REVIT, ETAP, and VISUAL lighting software is a plus.
• Knowledge of large power transformers, power generation, transmission, and load flow analysis is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate electrical engineering work and produce drawings using REVIT, ETAP, AGI32 and VISUAL lighting software.
• Prepare and review plans, technical specs, contract documents, and estimates; participate in bidding and administration.
• Support and observe design progress and coordinate with project team, client representatives, and review agencies.
• Collaborate to solve complex engineering problems with conflicting design requirements.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering

• Working knowledge of REVIT, ETAP, and VISUAL lighting software is a plus.
• Knowledge of large power transformers, power generation, transmission, operation and maintenance of power system distribution systems (110vac to 33kvac), harmonic analysis, cable and buss capacity analysis, and load flow analysis is required.
• Strong working knowledge of national fire protection codes and standards
• Strong client skills is a must; position will have direct client contact
• LEED accreditation is preferred

About the Role

Gresham Smith is seeking an Electrical Engineer-in-Training to join our Nashville office. In this role, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver exceptional human experiences in healthcare settings. You should have strong technical skills, the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines, and strong communication and organization skills. Experience directly with XYZ projects is a plus.

As an Electrical Engineering-in-Training, you will:

• Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate electrical engineering work. Prepare engineering reports, plans and specifications for a variety of projects. Design and produce engineering drawings using REVIT, ETAP, AGI32 and VISUAL lighting software. Check and revise engineering drawings.
• Prepare and review plans and technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. Participate in contract bidding and administration.
• Support and observe the design and ongoing progress of a project. Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to project.
• Collaborate in solving a variety of complex engineering problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
