Job summary

Gresham Smith is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Building Engineering Team in Orlando. You will lead electrical design for healthcare projects, manage scope, budget, and schedule, and coordinate REVIT, ETAP, and Visual lighting work with clients and AHJs.

The role requires strong team collaboration, problem solving, and client-facing skills, with a focus on code compliance and high-quality deliverables.

  • Proficient in REVIT, ETAP, and Visual lighting software.

Responsibilities

  • Determine scope, budget, and schedule for tasks; assign and monitor progress.
  • Plan and coordinate electrical engineering work; prepare reports, plans, specs; produce drawings.
  • Review plans, specs, contracts, and estimates; participate in bidding and administration.
  • Lead design progress and coordinate with project team, client, and authorities.
  • Research codes and apply standards to designs; produce contract documents.

Desired Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of electrical design experience, specifically Healthcare.
  • P.E. license
  • Working knowledge of REVIT, ETAP, and VISUAL lighting software is required.
  • Knowledge of power transformers, generators, coordination studies, arc flash, and FGI Guidelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of National Electrical Code, NFPA standards, and building codes.
  • Strong client skills is a must; position will have direct client contact.
  • LEED accreditation is preferred.

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Team.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Have the ability to determine scope, budget, and schedule for each task. Performs design and/or assigns task to team members, and monitor status of completion.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate electrical engineering work. Prepare engineering reports, plans and specifications for a variety of projects. Design and produce engineering drawings using REVIT, ETAP and VISUAL lighting software. Check and revise engineering drawings.
  • Prepare and review plans and technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. Participate in contract bidding and administration.
  • Lead and review the design and ongoing progress of a project. Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to project.
  • Collaborate in solving a variety of complex engineering problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
  • Research codes and apply knowledge of code requirements and standards to designs.
  • Produce contract documents including drawings, specifications, review designs, proposals, shop drawings and contractor comments for electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria.
  • Travel to job sites for construction administration meetings, construction progress inspections, and meetings with AHJ's.
