Job summary

IPS, a Berkshire Hathaway company, seeks an Electrical Engineer II for its Emeryville, California office to plan, design, and direct electrical engineering projects within the Design Department. You will work on medium voltage and low voltage systems, fire alarm, backup power, and life safety systems, using AutoCAD and Revit, with a focus on code compliance and drawings production.

Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering/design experience in building design (lighting, fire alarm, branch circuitry).
• Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related).
• Expertise in AutoCAD/Revit and electrical design codes.
• PE license preferred; progression toward PE is valued.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design computations and cost estimates for smaller projects.
• Use AutoCAD/Revit to prepare engineering documents.
• Modify drawings, plans, and schedules as required.
• Perform electrical calculations (lighting, power, sizing).
• Create electrical riser diagrams and equipment schedules.
• Provide drawings and sketches for drafting, and research design options.
