Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks an Electrical Engineer II – Interconnect to develop interconnect models and drive subsystem integration across the program lifecycle. You will collaborate with subsystem owners, harness teams, and suppliers to design, validate, and document interconnects, ensuring requirements are met and test plans are executed.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in STEM and at least 2 years of relevant electrical hardware experience, with the ability to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in electrical hardware development, testing, or subsystems/systems engineering.
  • Experience with requirement development and validation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop interconnect models and define system design parameters.
  • Integrate and validate electronics, analyze hardware designs, and influence architecture refinement.
  • Develop and document subsystem requirements and test plans.
  • Maintain and create documentation, troubleshoot electronics in lab or production environments.
  • Support subsystem integration and test, and investigate failures.
  • Collaborate with functional, program, and higher-level management.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and program leadership across disciplines.
  • Compile inputs from system requirements, architecture, electrical interface parameters, schematics, and hardware specifications into the interconnect model.
  • Coordinate with mechanical harness design teams on cable design and routing.
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings to align model status.
  • Prepare and conduct peer reviews and present model contents for engineering review.
  • Generate test procedures and plans, document test results, and present findings to technical teams.
  • Work independently or as part of a team in an office and laboratory environment; occasional field work may be required.
  • Travel, including foreign travel, may be required.

Job Overview

The Advanced Effectors and Guidance Systems Department is searching for an Electrical Engineer II – Interconnect to develop interconnect models for subsystem integration. The role requires collaboration with subsystem owners, mechanical harness teams, electronics system architects, and suppliers to design, validate, and document interconnects throughout the program lifecycle.

Qualifications – Must Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience in electrical hardware development, testing, or subsystems/systems engineering.
  • Experience with requirement development and validation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with interconnect capture tools such as Sieman’s Capital Suites.
  • Writing and executing test procedures for electrical hardware/subsystems.
  • Knowledge of system block diagrams, interconnect diagrams, harness schematics, and electrical interface parameters.
  • Familiarity with high‑speed digital interface, power distribution, grounding, shielding, and signal integrity topics.
  • Experience working with missiles or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of mixed‑signal electronics.
  • Ability to manage cross‑functional teams and drive suppliers to meet commitments.
  • Knowledge of DoD hardware development process and design gates.
  • Practical experience throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
